Cisco Announces v3.1 Update to the Lab

And on a related note, Jeff will lose all of his free time for the rest of 2017. If you didn’t see the announcement, Cisco announced that the wireless lab will move to v3.1 on November 8 of this year. You can see the announcement here (https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/community/ccie-wireless-written-lab-updates) .

Rather than wait until next weekend to send this newsletter, I wanted to get it out to you sooner to ensure that you are all in the loop regarding the update and what my initial plans are to continue to support my students in their CCIE endeavors.

My ultimate goal is to make choices that will meet the needs of those people that will need to transition from v3.0 to v3.1 as well as for those who will start their journey with v3.1 in mind.

Self-Study Materials

There are enough big changes (mainly due to new OS versions) where I feel like it’s ultimately the best solution to create brand new materials. It’s my goal that I’ll have Workbook Vol 1, Lab Video Series 1, and the racks updated to v3.1 by the time the new lab goes live in November. The rest of the products will follow afterwards. All existing customers will get these updated products free thanks to our upgrade policy.

Classes

Version 3.0 classes will continue as scheduled through August. The online classes that were scheduled for October will be cancelled in order to give me more time to work on new materials and to update the classes. They also wouldn’t leave much time to take the v3.0 lab before it ends. The November classes will run as scheduled and will cover the new 3.1 version of the lab. I have also added additional class dates for the first half of 2018 on the website.

v3.0 to v3.1 Gap Series

For those that don’t want to watch all of the new v3.1 videos when they are released, I’ll be periodically coming out with videos that discuss what’s new/different in each section of the lab. This should allow those who have already put many hours into v3.0 studies to get up to speed on v3.1 with fewer hours of studies. I haven’t fully decided yet, but I may even make these live online events (which would be recorded for future viewing). However it happens, these will be made available only to Platinum Bundle owners.

Have Questions?

This is a fairly big update and I’m sure it will be causing a number of you to have to make some decisions on how to respond to it. If you have any questions about the new lab version or how I’ll be helping my students pass the current version or the next, don’t hesitate to send me an email at jeff@networkdojo.com.
