CCIE Enterprise Wireless Lab Mentoring

CCIE Enterprise Wireless Lab Mentoring is a fairly unique offering in the CCIE training space.  Lab mentoring sessions are held 2-3 times per week for typically no more than 1 hour at a time.  These are online group meetings lead by Jeff Rensink (CCIE# 24834 Wifi and R&S).  The primary components of these sessions are a period of teaching where Jeff will pick a topic to lecture on or a lab scenario to go over, and then a healthy Q&A period when people are free to get answers to any CCIE-related questions or to get help on anything that they may be stuck on.  The primary goal of lab mentoring is to give students regular live instructor access so that they can constantly be moving forward in their studies and not getting stuck for any significant period of time.

On top of the regular instructor time, mentoring sessions are often where the latest lab information and study tips are revealed.  While we do our best to create fully complete workbooks and videos, Cisco has a way of including things that we didn’t think about on the initial development of the products.  While the plan is to always update materials to keep them fresh, it can be months between learning about new things and being able to actually get that updated information into the normal materials.  But with mentoring, we have a platform to get the latest information out ASAP.  So if you want to always know the latest info, mentoring meetings are where you’ll get it.

Worried that you may miss out in key information because you cannot attend a session?  That’s not a problem, since we record the sessions and make them available to you in the archives.  We have every mentoring session ever recorded available there.

Lab Mentoring Schedule

Mentoring sessions are set on a 2-week repeating schedule as shown below. Sessions last for approx 1 hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know this is a fairly unique offering the the CCIE training space, and that will generate a number of questions.  Check out some of the common questions below.  But if those don’t address your particular questions, don’t hesitate to send us an email at sales@networkdojo.comand we’ll do our best to get you the details that you need to make an informed choice.

Q- Do I need to attend every meeting to get the most value?

A- No.  You only need to attend when it makes sense to you.  If you don’t have any current questions/struggles, and you aren’t interested in the teaching topic, just skip the session and keep plugging away at your studies.

Q- Can I only attend part of a session?

A- Absolutely!  The sessions have a standard flow and general timing for a reason.  If you only want to sit through the teaching topic and skip the Q&A period, that’s fine.  If you you just want a quick answer to a question, jump into the session around 20-30 minutes into it and we should be in the Q&A portion.

Q- Is there a limit to how many questions I can ask?

A- Yes and no… If many people have questions, I will do my best to give fair time to everyone.  So if it’s a very busy session during the Q&A portion, and you come with 20 questions queued up, you may not get all of them answered.  But it hasn’t happened yet where we’ve run out of time.

Q- Can you help me with a configuration issue during these sessions?

A- I can do my best.  Either I can show you how to configure something on my rack or I can make you a presenter and we can try to work on your gear.  Depending on the complexity of the setup, it might take me a bit of time to get acclimated to you topology, IP addressing, etc.  So the simpler you can make that, the easier it will be for me to assist you with something on your gear.

Q- What platform do you use for your mentoring sessions?

A- At the moment, I am using Webinar Jam to run the mentoring meetings.

Q- Are the meetings recorded in case I miss one that I wanted to see?

A- Yes, we record the meetings and will make them available in the members area.

Q- These days/times don’t work for me. Can you change them or add more sessions?

A- We’ve been using this schedule for over 3 years now.  So it’s pretty locked in.  My hope is that most everyone could regularly attend at least 1-2 of the sessions over a 2 week period if they so choose.  But even attending once every 2 weeks would provide a great benefit over the course of 6-12 months of studies.
